Leaf Fun

I raked a big pile of leaves in our yard and the kids had so much fun jumping around in them. Levi said, "I just love autumn leaves!" Clarey wasn't as thrilled as the boys and once she was in the pile, couldn't move fast enough to get out. I have to say, as small as she is and as much as the boys were moving and throwing leaves, I, too, would have been trying to get away.

Clarey just loves phones. Especially iPhones. She is remarkably good at working it and even sends texts to her Uncle Neal. How the times have changed!

Halloween Festivities

Levi's class Halloween Party

Boo at the Zoo ~ Just before Halloween we met Catie at the St. Louis Zoo for Boo at the Zoo. While it was fun to walk around and see the decorations, it was disappointing to not see any animals. We got there early enough that I thought we at least see a few. We only saw a bear, flamingoes and some penguins. Nonetheless, it was great to see Catie and the kids had fun in their costumes.

After a short shopping trip to Target with Nonna, the kids came home with a haunted gingerbread house to construct and decorate. As we were working on it and the kids were munching on all the candy decorations, Clayton declared, "My stomach hasn't been this happy in years!!" The boys really enjoyed making the house, but they had much more fun destroying and eating it.

Darling it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me!

We definitely had an under the sea theme this year for Halloween costumes. Clayton was a hermit crab, Levi was an octopus and Clarey was a little starfish. They loved their costumes and had so much fun at our small "Halloween Feasts" at Grandma and Grandpa Huck's and at Nonna's. A short trick or treat jaunt filled our candy bags to the brim and we all had a great Halloween!

A Couple Autumn Activities

We've been exploring textures this fall. It started with finding lots of leaves and noticing how some are still pliable and some are "crunchy." So we raided the craft cabinet and found a variety of items that all had different textures. It was fun to feel, compare and glue them onto our paper.

We also found about 10 million acorns in our yard. The boys and I collected quite a few and put them in our sensory table. I guess the boys got enough of feeling the acorns as we collected them because once inside they weren't so interested in them any more. But Clarey was. She played, scooping and pouring and picking up individual acorns for weeks.

A Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

At the end of October, Levi's class took a trip to Grace United Methodist Church's pumpkin patch. It's just down the road from their school and the kids had a blast. They got to play games, explore the pumpkins and even got to bring one home. Levi loves his so much he keeps it by his bed. We had gorgeous weather and a great time!

Football!!

We went to watch Cameron play football last Monday. We were running late, of course, and heard them announce his name, he recovered a fumble, as we were walking in! The freshman are having a great season. They beat Farmington 50-0. As we were leaving the game, I walked by one of the players. The smell brought back so many memories. It doesn't seem like that long ago I was sitting in those same stands watching Cyle play.

Kori's Shower and Bachelorette Party

Last weekend we had the shower and bachelorette party for my future sister-in-law, Kori. It was all so much fun!

Baking Bread

This is what baking bread with the kids is all about.
